The more I paint, the more I realize that you never truly see something until you paint it. I’ve had blood oranges countless times. Every time I’ve cut one open, I marveled at the color, but if you were to ask me what color it is, I’d say dark red. But it’s not until I painted this picture that I realized all the subtlety that happening there. There’s purples, crimsons, browns, even greenish grays.
